The hardest part of remodeling a kitchen is deciding on a budget for the entire project. While you can easily get a handle on the overall or average cost of appliances, cabinets can be more difficult. The cabinet cost for a kitchen remodel depends on many factors, from the type or brand of cabinet to the bells and whistles that go with them. The more decked out and custom the cabinet, the more expensive it’s going be.
Buying RTA Kitchen Cabinets from Stock
If you’re looking for minimalist cabinets and your kitchen is an average size and design, then you’ll want to stick with stock kitchen cabinets. These are cabinets that come with standard doors, etc. and are already formed to specific average kitchen sizes. There’s no customization that needs to be done and they can be shipped right away. An average set of cabinets for a 10’ x 12’ kitchen can be around $4,000-$5,000 and higher. If you order any accessories, then that could inflate the price substantially.
Custom and Semi-custom Discount Cabinets Online
If your kitchen has odd measurements or you need a kitchen cabinet design that’s different than most, you’ll need a custom or semi-custom design. A semi-custom design is a mix of custom cabinets and stock cabinets. If one part of your kitchen has measurements that don’t go with the average, then you’ll need to order cabinets designed to those specifications. Since the cabinets are cut and designed to specific needs, they’ll cost more than stock. The more cabinets need customization, the more money they will cost. They can also have custom doors, drawer pulls and be made from real wood, which makes them more unique and expensive.
Semi-custom and custom cabinets can cost around $8,000 to more than $20,000 and up depending on the materials used, add-ons, etc.
Rev-A-Shelf Ala Carte
When you order a custom door, you’re likely buying multiple doors to fit various cabinets. When you order accessories to go with your cabinets such as Rev-A-Shelf, you’re ordering one or two. For example, you order one spice rack to hang on a door or one pull-out drawer for pots and pans. There are many different kitchen accessories to choose from and those can quickly add to the price of your cabinets. They can cost as low as $30 for a silverware organizer to $200 or more for special drawers and pull outs.
