Some people (actually, most, we have found!) love to have a long, hot soak after a long day’s work. A bathtub is just what the doctor ordered. But many people don’t have the space for a large, long bathtub, or they could use the extra space in their bathroom for additional storage. Well, enter the walk-in bathtub. A walk-in bathtub is a bathtub with a door. Sounds crazy? It’s not, and it’s one of the most popular new types of bathtubs on the market today. It has a lot of great features, and is taking over the market for tub installs!
What’s Great About It?
The walk-in tub is easy to get in and out of. There are no more slips and falls getting in and out of a high tub. Great for both kids and adults, the walk-in tub has a door that opens and closes. You can begin filling water (the door doesn’t go all the way to the floor) and hop right in. Once the door is closed, you have a nice, relaxing seat to sit in and recline. It’s like sitting in an easy chair in the water! One great thing about it is that the water in the tub will stay warmer, longer. These tubs have insulated sides, yet the part of the water open to the air is less than that of a normal tub, as the water is more concentrated in a vertical form, rather than horizontal. This means that there is less surface area for the water to lose heat from. Bonus! Also, each tub has its own temperature sensors and a freestanding stainless steel support frame, so installation is easy. They also include the faucets and a handheld showerhead, so there is very little plumbing to install.
Is There Only One Type?
No, there are a few models to choose from, including the Air series, which has bubble jet massagers. There are the Soak models, which are the basic model, though there is nothing basic about them! There are also the Dual models, which include the air jets from the Air series, but also have 6 whirlpool jets to make the bath divine.
