Free Kitchen Layout Tool at RTA Cabinet Store

Okay, so you’ve done the easy part: the dreaming, the looking in magazines and online, the browsing of catalogs. Now comes the hard part: translating that dream into reality. Fortunately, RTA Cabinet Store offers a kitchen layout tool for free to help you do just that!

How to Get Started with the Kitchen Layout Tool

First, you’ll need to set up a basic user account. Don’t worry, it’s not hard and only takes a few seconds. It’s helpful because not only will your design be saved for you in case you need to put it down and work on it more again later, it’ll let you load your design straight into your shopping cart, ready for checkout and shipment. Once you’ve signed up you can reach the tool by logging in.

If visual learning is more your thing, we’ve created tutorial videos for each major step of designing your kitchen as well, which will show on the first page after you sign up.

Next we need to know about your kitchen. Click to choose what basic layout and shape your kitchen has. You can give it a nickname and select a cabinet style to start off. Don’t worry, you can change the style later if you need to. Finally, we need to know the width and depth of the room. Measure from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. If there’s a door jamb that defines one edge of your kitchen, measure right to the edge. If your kitchen will continue beyond the door however, measure all the way to the edge of the intended space. You can create doors and windows later.

Using our DIY Online Kitchen Design Tool

The tool itself is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. On the left, you can click to switch between adding structural elements like doors and windows, base cabinets (the layout will be white in base-cabinet mode) or wall cabinets (with a blue layout). Then you choose a cabinet style, and a category, like “Corner Base Cabinets.”

Below the dropdown menus, you’ll see pictures of all the cabinet types for the style and category. Click the one you want to add, then “Add to Floorplan,” and the cabinet will appear in the floorplan. Drag and drop it where you want it to go. It will snap into place along corners or against other cabinets, to make it easy.

Keep adding cabinets and appliance placeholders until you’re satisfied with the basic layout, and then click “Next Step.” The tool will walk you through selecting sinks and faucets, hardware and cabinet upgrades, and even cabinet accessories like toe kicks and decorative panels.

When you’re finished, you can click “Add to Cart,” and the tool will automatically build your order, including everything you need to assemble the kitchen you designed and make it part of your home.
