Cabinet Ordering Online – A Timeline Comparison to Other Methods

When you get down to the point where you need a new kitchen or bathroom, you need to be able to plan your time well.  Especially when building a new home, you need to know when cabinets will arrive, and plan your timeline accordingly.  There are three main methods of buying cabinets.  One, going to a brick and mortar store, and either transporting cabinets yourself or having them delivered.  Two, having custom cabinets made.  Three, buying kitchen cabinets online.

Brick and Mortar Cabinet Stores

If you choose to go someplace to get your cabinets, it really is the luck of the draw.  Some places keep a large stock, others will keep just a display inside the store and order from their supplier when they get an order for something.  The time taken could be either a day, or a month, depending on the size and the complexity of the order.

Also, for rarer items, such as an odd-shaped corner cabinet or something that doesn’t sell too often, it can push the delivery date back by an indeterminate amount of time.  Take into account shipping to your house (unless you happen to have a large truck sitting around), and you have now entered the realm of maybe a day, maybe a month.  This is the least precise method time-wise.  More popular items, such as shaker cabinets, are more likely to be in stock and on hand.

Custom Cabinets

If you choose to have custom cabinets made, this will take a while.  The cabinets, doors, hardware, etc. all need to be constructed after they are ordered.  A good rule of thumb is two cabinet enclosures a day, if it’s a good custom shop, so if your kitchen has 15 cabinets to be installed, it will most likely take a week and a half to make them.  This is, of course, if they start on the day you order.  For this method, you are at the mercy of their job log, and could be third or fourth down the list, and need to wait a month or two. Then you have to add time for the installation process.

RTA Cabinets

Buying kitchen cabinets online, specifically RTA cabinets, is a whole different ballgame.  You order the cabinets, and depending on where the store is, it is usually a maximum of one week if you live pretty far from the rest of civilization, but oftentimes less than two or three days to have them delivered.

Everything that is on the RTA Cabinet Store website, for example, is in stock and ready to go. Orders are immediately processed once payment is made, so there is little to no lag time or waiting for other clients.

The Fastest Method

Ordering RTA cabinets can be an incredibly quick method to get your kitchen cabinets, and takes a lot of the hassle out of the whole experience.  The other great part of buying kitchen cabinets online is the ability to research anything.  Fortunately, RTA cabinet store has done some of that research already!
