Top 10 Kitchen Design Trends for 2013

The NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) release a report every year showing the top design trends in kitchens and bathrooms.  This year there were not a lot of surprises, as the trends have remained the same for the most part.   The only surprise that I found, was the average price of a kitchen.   The average spend on kitchens is trending down, which means more and more people are finally starting to catch on to the value and quality of RTA cabinets!

Quartz continues to grow in popularity as a top choice for counter tops, and LED lighting continues it’s rapid climb in popularity (over 70% of interior designers are now starting to recommend it).  In terms of style for kitchen cabinets, white painted cabinets continue to see the fastest growth.   We have even started carrying several different shades and door styles in white to keep up with the trend.   While bright white is still very popular, we have see the trend start to shift more towards antiqued or aged white.

The popularity of the use of gray in the kitchen has jumped drastically over the past three years.   Last year we do an episode of Kitchen Crashers where we painted Natural shaker cabinets in a gray finish, and it really came out great.
