Disposing of Your Old Kitchen Cabinets

When remodeling your kitchen, you may find yourself wonder what to do with the old kitchen cabinets.  While you can go the route of throwing them away to make room for your new RTA kitchen cabinets, there are alternatives.  Read on to find out which is the best one for you.

Online Sales

There is a big market for secondary kitchen cabinets. Depending on the state of your kitchen cabinets, you can even make some money on them rather than just throwing them out. We suggest taking pictures of your old cabinets while still installed, and putting up an ad on a website such as Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Be sure to add a removal date and stipulate that they are for pickup only, no shipping, and that the “buyer” is responsible for hauling. That way, you can get those cabinets taken away for nothing.

If your cabinets are in good condition, you can even make money on the deal by selling them. Just keep in mind that you will have to be careful removing them so they stay in good condition. Go the extra mile and some furniture movers wrap (the big roll which looks like saran wrap) to wrap it all up for transport.

Removal Service

There are many cabinet removal services out there who can do the job for you. If you aren’t really the DIY type, or don’t want to worry about it, you can hire a company to come in and demo your entire kitchen for you to get your kitchen ready to install your new RTA kitchen cabinets.

These services oftentimes will take all the cabinets in your kitchen down, remove them from the premises, and donate them to a good cause or organization that will give them to a needy household, such as Habitat for Humanity.  This is a great option, and normally isn’t very expensive. And since you saved a bundle on getting your RTA kitchen cabinets, you are still ahead!

Repurpose Old Cabinets

Use dispose of kitchen cabinets by using them for something else. Move them to the garage for some extra storage. Take them apart and build a new doghouse. Let your creative juices flow and you’ll find a new home for those old cabinets.
