{"id":657,"date":"2013-03-14T18:50:03","date_gmt":"2013-03-14T18:50:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/?p=657"},"modified":"2013-03-14T19:10:15","modified_gmt":"2013-03-14T19:10:15","slug":"4-reasons-rta-kitchen-cabinets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/4-reasons-rta-kitchen-cabinets\/","title":{"rendered":"4 Reasons Why RTA Kitchen Cabinets May NOT Be Right For You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sounds strange that the owner of a kitchen cabinet company would be saying that his cabinets might not be for you, doesn\u2019t it?\u00a0 It may sound strange but it is true.\u00a0 Our cabinets are NOT for everyone and we don\u2019t claim that they should be.\u00a0 For 98% of the population, our cabinets are absolutely perfect for your home and will not only add value but will also last a long time.\u00a0 For the other 2% of the population, you shouldn\u2019t be buying our cabinets.\u00a0\u00a0 If any of these examples applies to you, then I am encouraging you to NOT buy our cabinets.<\/p>\n<ol> <strong>If you think that REAL wood is going to be blemish free or that the grain pattern is going to be exactly the same on each and every piece, then our cabinets are NOT for you.<\/strong><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-665\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/4-reasons-rta-kitchen-cabinets\/real-wood\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-665\" title=\"real wood\" src=\"\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/rtacabinet\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/real-wood.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nYes, real wood will have grain patterns\u2026 it will have knots.. it may stain differently based on the way the grain is running\u2026 but that is REAL wood.\u00a0 If you come across a cabinet line that isn\u2019t painted and has zero grain pattern or is exactly the same on every single cabinet, than it isn\u2019t real wood.\u00a0\u00a0 Wood is a living, breathing material that will expand and contract, sometimes bow, and will inevitably have differences in the grain pattern\u2026 but that is exactly WHY you would buy real wood.\u00a0\u00a0 If you want something that is perfectly uniform in color and doesn\u2019t have any pattern or character, then I would recommend buying a painted MDF or laminated particle board cabinet (they will last half as long, and will sag over time, but at least you won\u2019t have any grain pattern!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you don\u2019t know how to use a screw driver, then our cabinets are probably NOT for you.<\/strong><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-658\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/4-reasons-rta-kitchen-cabinets\/tool-use\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-658\" title=\"Using the Right Tools\" src=\"\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/rtacabinet\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/tool-use-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/tool-use-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/tool-use-1024x766.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/tool-use.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nYou don\u2019t have to be a certified cabinet installer to work with our cabinets, but you should be able to at least use a screwdriver and a cordless drill.\u00a0\u00a0 While the assembly instructions may look like they were written by 5 year olds, they really couldn\u2019t any easier to assemble.\u00a0\u00a0 An average wall cabinet will only have 6 pieces that need to be secured together using a screwdriver.\u00a0 As crazy as it sounds, every now and then we will have someone order a kitchen, it arrives at their home and we get a call \u201cI didn\u2019t know we had to put them together\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 Labor is the most expensive part of any home improvement project, so shipping them ready-to-assemble, we eliminate that part of the labor expense and pass the savings on to you\u2026 but seriously\u2026. If you have NEVER assembled anything before and don\u2019t know the difference between a Phillips head and flat head screw driver.. our cabinets are probably NOT for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you own a McMansion that is worth over a million dollars and you are trying to be cheap\u2026 our cabinets are NOT for you.<\/strong><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-659\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/4-reasons-rta-kitchen-cabinets\/mansion\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-659\" title=\"Mansion\" src=\"\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/rtacabinet\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/mansion-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/mansion-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rtacabinetstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/mansion.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe expectation level of the cabinets for a house that is valued over a million dollars is going to be custom cabinetry.\u00a0 Most builders at that price point will create elaborate kitchens with intricate detailing and custom storage areas, which are possible, but not practical with stock cabinets.\u00a0 We can show you how to make just about any layout with our cabinets, but when it comes to high dollar homes, custom cabinets are going to be expected (so is a budget of $100,000 plus for a kitchen\u2026. Don\u2019t be cheap, throw down the $100k for a kitchen that matches the rest of the home)<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are na\u00efve enough to think that your kitchen renovation will be completed on time, on budget, and without any unexpected problems.. our cabinets may NOT be for you. <\/strong><br \/>\nHaving worked with literally thousands of homeowners and contractors at this point, I can almost tell which customers are going to have the most problems.\u00a0 I am sure there are statistics on this somewhere, but from my experience less than 2% of projects going exactly the way they are planned.\u00a0 So what does this have to do with our cabinets? I would LOVE to say that every kitchen we ship (roughly 200 a week right now), arrives without a scratch, dent, or crack, but it doesn\u2019t\u2026.
