Where NOT to Cut Costs when Ordering Cheap Kitchen Cabinets

Everybody wants a kitchen that’s easy to use, and that feels luxurious. Unfortunately, the reality of personal finances is such that you can’t always get everything you want. But if you order RTA kitchen cabinets, and do so wisely, you can save a lot of money. Cutting some extra corners here and there can save even more, but it’s important not to sacrifice quality or the feeling of luxury, when you do.

Don’t Skimp on Accessories

One big jump in the feeling of luxury and quality in any kitchen is the kitchen’s storage accessories. Little touches like custom-fitted silverware inserts or pantry door spice racks can add a real touch of class that will thrill you just a little bit, every single time you use them for as long as you keep your new kitchen.

Other accessories are more essential, especially if you plan to stay in your current home and kitchen setup for the long term, or if you have guests, children, or family members who are disabled or even just getting on in years. Things like roll-out shelves for base cabinets, and Glideware telescopic in-cabinet storage for pots and pans, can make the difference to an elderly or disabled person between using the full breadth of storage options and utensils in a kitchen, and half or more of it being utterly out of reach.

For what they add in terms of functionality, luxury, and quality, these kinds of options really aren’t very expensive, and offer a lot of bang for your buck. So while you can get away with a veneer door panel instead of all solid hardwood doors, by going with a more affordable cabinet option, you should still seriously consider upgrading to modern storage and accessibility solutions on at least some of your cabinets.

Consider Upgrading Hardware

Most of our top-end model lines already come with things like soft-close door dampers, and full-extension, soft-close drawer glides. Even a few of our budget models include those features. For those that don’t, however, consider adding them as upgrades.

You don’t even have to upgrade all of them. For example, soft-close glides and dampers on the silverware drawer, and the cupboards where glasses, plates, and midnight snacks go, will keep someone with a late-night craving, or a need to take pills or other medication, from waking up the whole house when a door or drawer slips closed loudly. Other, less-frequently used cabinets could remain stock, to save money, or you could upgrade the whole shebang, for less than you might think.
