Dealing With New Kitchen Cabinet Regret

Return Policy words on a store receipt or proof of purchase to tYou’ve spent weeks or maybe even months looking for the perfect new kitchen cabinets. You did everything you were supposed to do. You looked for the best deals. You measured and remeasured to make sure that was correct. You even built them yourself, so you could save money and get nice cabinets. When it was all done, you stared at your brand-new cabinets and … were disappointed. You may not be able to understand why it was so disappointing or maybe you could identify it right away, but you’re experiencing cabinet regret. What do you do?

Returning the RTA Kitchen Cabinet at Your Cost

If it’s so bad that you don’t even want them in your home any more, then you can try and return them and get a new set, but it’s not going to be cheap. The cabinet company did everything they were supposed to. They gave you the cabinets you wanted, and they can’t help that you didn’t like them. They may be willing to accept a return, but it won’t be for nothing. They’ll require you to pay for shipping the cabinets back as well as a restocking fee. Depending on the company you choose, there may be other expenses as well. Do you have the money to go through all this? It’s not an easy task and you have to go through the cabinet search once again and hope the new ones fit your needs.

Live with the Discount Kitchen Cabinets

The least expensive and troublesome option is to live with the cabinets you have. If you can identify what about the cabinets disappoints you, then maybe you can remedy it with some creative décor changes. You may find that the color of the cabinets doesn’t go with the current wall color. In that case, pick out some new paint colors and see if they can match the cabinets. Maybe it’s an overall décor choice. Maybe instead of a country theme, you can change it up with something more modern or urban. The cabinets could have been your subconscious way of making sure your whole kitchen gets a decorative revamp.

Change Your Black Kitchen Cabinets

If it truly is the kitchen cabinets themselves that are the problem, then don’t be afraid to change them up. Instead of replacing them, you can paint them or choose a wood veneer to go over them. That can completely change the look of the cabinets and might relieve your cabinet regret. You can also order new drawer and cabinet handles. These custom handles can bring a subtle, but definite change to the cabinets. If the handles don’t do it, then why not change the whole door? New doors will also change the entire look of the cabinets. You can get doors with glass or designs in them. Or you might prefer a mix of these tactics. You’ll have to spend a little money, but it’s much less than the cost of entirely new cabinets.
