Carter Can Episode #2- Manhattan Beach House
We were invited back to do another episode of the hit TV show "Carter Can". This time the project house was in Manhattan Beach. This project required some modification of the cabinets, which really added a custom look to the kitchen.
RTA Cabinet Store partners with HGTV again for another episode of "Carter Can".
After completing the first episode of Carter Can, we were not expecting to hear back from them so soon to do another episode. When we got the call, obviously, we were more than happy to fly back out. For this house, they decided to use the Windsor Maple Cabinets to help complete the Tuscan feel they were creating in the kitchen. This project required some modification of the cabinets to accommodate a farmers sink (or apron sink) and an in-cabinet oven unit. Neither of these modifications had ever better tried before, so it required some creative thinking by our staff.
Unfortunately, like the last episode, this one will not air until sometime next year. Until then, take a look at some of the pictures some the filming and the final results before the reveal. The homeowners couldn't have been any happier with the way the Windsor Maple Cabinets came out.
By the time we got to the set the first day, Frank (the carpenter behind the scenes) had already installed almost all of the base cabinets, since they needed to measure for the countertops. Since the kitchen cabinets had to be modified to fit the oven unit and farmers sink, they had already completed that part as well. This project required a lot more work ahead of time. They actually installed a new support beam to open up some of the walls and closed off an outside door that led into the kitchen.

Day #2: Filming Begins
On day 2 they were ready to bring in the film crew and start the real work. In the kitchen, there was a lot happening on day 2. The remainder of the kitchen cabinets were being installed, wainscotting was being applied to the walls, and flooring was going down. This meant that there were a lot of people working in a very small space. Somehow they figured out a way to make it work!

Day #3: Final Preparation and Reveal
Day 3 is when all the chaos begins. The designers are trying to stage the two rooms that were completed, the painting crew is trying to finish all the touchups, and the carpenters are actually trying to piece everything together. Day 3 is when the special projects usually get completed as well. They had a great idea where they took Windsor Maple dishwasher end panels and turned them into custom shelves! It is amazing to watch so many people trying to work in the same space and not get in each others way... oh, and by they way, they are still shooting a TV show while all this is happening!

The Final Product!
Even with an average camera, you can see how nice this kitchen came out. Check back for the high resolution photos that the production crew took. The Windsor Maple cabinets really came out nice!
