We’re excited to share Jim O’loughlin’s truly spectacular kitchen makeover. Jim transformed his previously outdated, lackluster kitchen into a swanky and inviting space—ideal for entertaining guests in his Isle of Palms home.
Jim was able to complete the entire project easily by himself, and as you can tell by the before and after photos below, he’s very proud of the results. The RTA Cabinet Store team is just as impressed, and wanted to share Jim’s kitchen transformation to inspire your own remodel ideas.
Overall budget:
Including the flooring, which runs into the dining room and living room, the overall budget came to about $15,000. The budget for the kitchen was about $12,000—extremely affordable considering he completely renovated his entire kitchen from floor to ceiling.
Style of Cabinets:
Jim chose to use a hybrid of cabinet lines, which we think looks absolutely superb. He used the Traditional White Shaker cabinets for the majority of the kitchen and used the Espresso Shaker cabinets for the beautiful center island.
Constructed of maple and birch wood, the Traditional White Shaker cabinets boast full overlay, solid hardwood doors with concealed 6-way adjustable hinges. Solid wood drawer boxes feature epoxy drawer glides.
Unique features or touches added:
Jim finished the project with stunning additions to give the kitchen a seamless look. He added back buffet complete with wine fridge to offset the loss of space from the original pantry, Carrara marble for the island, Astoria granite for the counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and gorgeous Rustic Beachwood Fossilized Bamboo flooring.
