The Kitchen Renovation Contest Has Started!

While it took us a while to finalize the rules and regulations, we are proud to announce the first annual Kitchen Renovation Contest!   We are going to reward one lucky winner with $2,000 in cash (well, really it will be a check).   The contest is really simple, and there are no requirements for the amount of money you have to spend.   Simply buy some of our kitchen cabinets or bathroom vanities, document your renovation, and then answer the questions in the rules and regulations guide.   50% of your score will be based on the overall transformation, and 50% will be based on your answers to the questions (so start practicing!).  There is also a bonus 25 points for the person that comes up with the most creative use for our cabinets other than just the standard use.

So whether you are a professional looking to showcase your project, or a first time DIY'er, everyone has an equal chance of winning.  To register, simply go to the Kitchen Renovation Contest page on the website, or you can click on the image below.

Good luck to everyone that enters, and we look forward to seeing (and reading about) your renovation projects!

RTA Cabinet Store- Now offering Free Video Instructions

As we continue to grow, we are starting to add more and more features to the site.   One of the new features that we are going to start offering will be free instructional videos on everything from how to assemble a wall cabinet (which is already on the site), to how to install crown moulding, and how to actually install the cabinets.   We hope to have several different videos available in the next couple of months to help educate our customers on how to work with our cabinets.

While their are some sites that actually charge for instructional videos, our goal is to provide as much information as possible to our customers so that they keep coming back any time they need cabinets.   Keep checking back to see the new videos we post.   While they may not be Hollywood quality videos, they will certainly help customers with the assembly and installation of their new kitchen cabinets

Countdown to LA!

Next week is the filming of the HGTV show "Carter Can" in which we will be participating.   Even though this will be our first time working with HGTV and any of it's home improvement shows, we are already getting calls about other shows (it is quite exciting).   It really says something about the quality of the product, if an industry leader like HGTV is excited to work with the cabinets and feature them in a show.    They will be installing the Marquis Cinnamon Kitchen Cabinets in a home out in Chatsworth, CA.

Some of the staff will be flying out there on Tuesday to assemble all of the cabinets, and we will be on site while the house is being renovated to see how the filming of a television show actually works.   Check back to the blog for some photos, some video footage, and the highlights of each day of shooting.

First Day at the HGTV Project House

We just wrapped up our first day at the HGTV house.   It was a little more subdue than I expected, but it was hectic none the less.   The only people on site were the general contractor (who happens to be from Pennsylvania as well), and his assistants.   Jake and I got right to work assembling the cabinets for the kitchen, which took us most of the day....  did I mention that is was 105 degrees where we were?   Not the best conditions to be assembling cabinets in a garage, but we were able to get them all done.   As you will see in some of the pictures, they already had some of the kitchen cabinets installed when we got there so that they could measure for the countertops, but we finished installing the majority of them.

It was interesting to watch the coordination to make sure that all of the materials were on-site for a three day shoot.   We actually had to drive and pick up some of the remaining cabinets that hadn't arrived yet, so we still have some work in the morning.

So that they have something to film tomorrow, they asked us not to assemble or install a couple of cabinets until the camera crews are around (so it sounds like we might be on the show after all).   Below are some photos of the house, the kitchen half installed and Jake & I hard at work.    Tomorrow is when most of the action happens, so check back for pics of the full installation, filming of the show, and maybe some pics of shows crew.

(unfortunately the internet signal at the hotel will not let me upload pics right now, but as soon as I have a strong enough signal I will get them up here)

Day 2: Filming of the Show Begins

Today was probably one of the coolest days of my life (not joking).   We spent the entire day watching the behind the scenes of the filming of an episode.   While Jake and I didn't make it on the show, we helped the head carpenter (also named Jake) with the assembly of the kitchen and walked him through the features of the cabinets.   After filming seperate clips about the assembly of a base and a wall cabinet, we helped both Jake and Carter (the host) with the installation of the remaining cabinets.  Both Carter and Jake were extremely nice guys, and appreciated the fact that we were willing to help with the installation even though we were not going to be on camera.

As the day went on, they shot the installation of the countertops, some of the side projects, and closeups with Carter.   It was interesting to see how many changes were taking place as the show was being shot.   We actually made some changes to the layout right before they shot the first installation segment.   We stuck around the rest of the day and helped out where we could (ending the day with a picture with Carter).

Tomorrow we are heading back to the house for the end reveal to the family.   The producers and product staff were extremely happy with the look and quality of the cabinets, and we are already talking about future shows that we can help them out with.   While I still can't load any pics to the blog yet, we are going to create a new page on the site to cover all of the videos and pictures that we took over the past two days and tomorrow.

Check back for an update about the activities from tomorrow.

RTA Cabinet Store is Adding New Cabinet Lines!

Over the past couple of months we have been working hard designing a couple of new kitchen cabinet lines that we are going to be manufacturing, along with a couple of kitchen cabinet lines from other manufacturers that we are going to start handling as well.   By hand picking which cabinets we are going to adding, we can insure that the same quality and features will be available in all of our products.  Keep an eye out for some new door styles as well as some different finishes that are coming.   In addition to new kitchen cabinets, we are also going to be bringing in some new styles for the bathroom vanities.

Look for our Windsor Maple cabinets to be featured in the upcoming HGTV show that we are shooting.   Going to have some surprises in there as well, such as how to install a farmers sink with our cabinets and a built in oven in a base cabinet.

RTA Cabinet Store is Going Mobile

Over the past couple of weeks we have been working on a new mobile version of the kitchen cabinet site, which we are getting ready to launch.   The site will be compatible with most cell phones and pda's.   For contractors and homeowners, this will allow both to be able to select cabinets while on the job site.   Now you will be able place your order any time, any where!   Keep an eye out for some really new and innovative cabinet styles coming in the next couple of months.

Mocha Shaker Kitchen Cabinets Are Now Available

The Mocha Shaker bathroom vanities have been so popular, we have decided to start making Mocha Shaker Kitchen Cabinets as well!!  This will fill a need for a dark, modern style kitchen cabinet that we have been lacking (besides the Chestnut Maple Kitchen Cabinets).   Since this is a new line, they will only be available by Special Order, since we do not have an inventory of them in our King of Prussia warehouse.   Special Order means that they will take 10-12 weeks to arrive, but we will be the only distributor in the country that is selling an RTA Mocha Shaker line!

The Mocha Shaker cabinets will have the same features as the Autumn Shaker- including the dovetailed drawers, wide shaker style doors, and full-overlay doors. So if you are looking for a modern, dark kitchen cabinet, you will love the Mocha Shaker line that we are not producing. While we do not have it up on the website yet, if you are interested in purchasing the Mocha Shaker line, give one of our sales associates a call.
